This paper aims to identify the most significant efforts made to develop industrial agriculture in the Saharan regions of Algeria through the use of modern methods and advanced technology to adapt agricultural practices to the unique characteristics of Saharan lands, such as scarce rainfall, high temperatures, water salinity, sandy soil, and the lack of connection to the electrical grid, among other obstacles and challenges. Algeria began developing agriculture in Saharan areas through the National Agricultural Development Plan in 2000. As part of efforts to achieve food security, reduce import values, and achieve economic diversification, Algeria continued its efforts to develop the agricultural sector through the Agricultural and Rural Development Roadmap 2020-2024. In this context, Algeria redirected its agricultural policy towards investing in industrial agriculture in desert lands and established the National Office for the Development of Industrial Agriculture in Saharan Lands to implement the national policy for promoting and developing strategic industrial agriculture in Saharan regions through investments under concession contracts. The successful realization of these projects requires coordinated efforts among relevant authorities, investors, and farmers to address potential challenges and develop industrial agriculture with sustainable practices that help preserve water resources and prevent soil degradation. Many of these projects have been implemented, resulting in the production of various industrial crops such as grains, fodder, sugar beets, and oil plants.
