Abstract

This article analyses the aesthetic features of Scholastique Mukasonga's Notre-Dame de Nil. Its aim
is to identify and interpret stylistic devices of autobiography. We analyse them according to the socio-cultural
competence of the enunciation in order to demonstrate that autobiography is subject to the writer's culture.
Our results show that onomastics, metaphor and qualifying adjectives appear as stylistic practices of
autobiography in this novelist.
