In the field of linguistic paremiology, proverbs are elements of wisdom and popular knowledge, social values, and so on. Their argumentative and pragmatic force is mainly determined by their argumentative schemes but also by the principles of polarities according to whether they are epistemic or deontic. It is precisely all of these data that have revealed that proverbs are linguistic utterances that can be used as an argument, as a law to convince, to persuade. Monné, outrages etdéfis(1990) of Amadou Kourouma is brimming with different types of proverbs in order to support the stories. This confirms the idea that literature is a fertile place for the expression of proverbial statements. Kourouma's text, if one relies on the statements studied, refers largely to African culture and conveys popular wisdom as treasure. The proverbs of this work, from the point of view of argumentation and pragmatics and according to whether they are of indicative, coercive or preferential norm, make it possible to consider this text as a real pedagogical tool for the sake of to teach morality, to learn political philosophy, to profess certain beliefs and other societal values.
