Abstract

History, in the whole of the work of Amin Maalouf, occupies a primordial place, whether in
novels or essays. Considered, thus, as the cornerstone around which gravitates the literary production of
the novelist. Therefore, the aim of this article is to highlight what links History and romance in
Samarcande by Amin Maalouf, as well as the issues of the historical rewriting of history and the scriptural
strategies adopted by the novelist for a perfect symbiosis between factual and fictional.
