Abstract

In this study, we examine the curriculum of the second year of upper secondary school, Humanities
option in Lebanon and particularly the public schools’ handbook entitled “From language to Literature”. We
will also proceed to semi-structured interviews with six secondary French teachers. Our goal is to understand
to which extend the historical, literary and intercultural baggage is built through French classes. We also aim
at focusing on the importance of literature in a world that is moving further and further away from
humanities as well as the role of the French instructor.
