Violence and identity stereotypes: a discursive analysis of comments on the Facebook pages MYTF1 and Le Figaro
Keywords:
Verbal violence, stereotyped construction, identity in crisis, media discourse, Facebook platformsAbstract
This article presents a discursive analysis of comments on the Facebook pages MYTF1 and Le Figaro,
exploring verbal violence and identity stereotypes. The study sheds light on how these social platforms can
amplify aggressive discourse and reinforce identity-related prejudices, often in response to significant events
such as attacks on churches in Sri Lanka, the mosque shootings in Christchurch (New Zealand), and the
announcement of the start of Ramadan in France. It examines how this verbal violence is reflected through
stereotypical media discourse on these identity-related topics, emphasizing the impact of these discourses on
society and inter-community relations
