This article presents a review of the book 'Stereotype and Reading' by its author Jean-Louis Dufays. The
aim of the book is to reconfigure reading theory by integrating stereotypical phenomena as the main tools for
understanding texts. To defend his thesis, Dufays, after giving a comparative overview of reading theories, sets
out to establish four typologies of stereotypes, using a variety of criteria. He then sets out to demonstrate how
these fixed schemas are involved in the various reading operations and postures
