It undeniably emerges that the presence of animal figures is a recurring constant in the postcolonial novel context in Africa. This animal presence significantly manifests in the texts of Cameroonian writer Patrice Nganang. In this article, we aim to attempt an analysis of the canine figure in Patrice Nganang's novel 'Dog Days.' Referring to numerous archetypal symbols, the dog appears in Nganang's text as an entity oscillating between several semantic poles. Therefore, our contribution will focus on delineating the symbolic connotations conveyed by the canine figure in 'Dog Days.'
