Publishing Ethics and Misconduct

  • The algerian journal of letters (La Revue algérienne des lettres RAL) is committed to universal standards of editorial ethics. Those involved in the editorial process are in turn committed to respecting all of the journal's guidelines, with a view to guaranteeing its integrity.
  • Plagiarism in any form, including self-plagiarism, is strictly forbidden.
  • Authors should be aware that falsification and/or manipulation of data and results are contrary to editorial ethics; such practices are severely condemned by the journal.
  • All persons who have made a substantial contribution to the research must be cited as co-authors. Persons who have made a significant contribution to the research but who do not meet the criteria for authorship must be duly acknowledged.
  • Authors must not submit the same contribution (article, review, interview or other) to several journals simultaneously, nor publish redundant works. Authors should report any related publications or submissions under review.
  • Authors must declare any financial or other relationship likely to influence the research or its interpretation. Any potential conflict of interest must be mentioned in the article at the time of submission.
  • Evaluators must treat all contributions received for evaluation in the strictest confidence.
  • Evaluators are required to assess contributions objectively. Under no circumstances should comments be subjective or impartial. Their comments must be edifying, with a view to improving the quality (in terms of both form and content) of the contributions.
  • Reviewers must declare any potential conflict of interest that may affect their impartiality in the evaluation of a manuscript.
  • Regarding the editorial team's decision, members are responsible for making fair and impartial decisions on submitted manuscripts based on their scientific merit, relevance and, above all, originality. Under no circumstances should decisions be influenced by factors such as race, gender, religion, ethnicity or institutional affiliation.
  • The editorial team and reviewers must maintain the confidentiality of all information relating to contributions.
  • The editorial team must ensure that a transparent and rigorous peer review procedure is applied to all contributions. To this end, it will select qualified reviewers, manage the review process efficiently and make decisions based on the reviewers' comments.
  • Any proven case of plagiarism, fabrication of data, falsification, redundant publication or other unethical practices will result in appropriate action, up to and including retraction of the published work.
  • Reporting misconduct: Authors as well as reviewers who suspect misconduct or unethical editorial behavior in a published work should promptly contact the journal with a view to treating all allegations confidentially.
