Algeria as a multilingual country has the particularity of enjoying a great plurality and
linguistic heterogeneity. Indeed, several languages and varieties of languages compete for the Algerian
sociolinguistic landscape. Thus, we can observe the use of Arabic with its different forms, the different
Berber languages and French. In addition, this complex configuration makes Algerians multilingual
speakers who not only change their language according to the communication context but who, above all,
mix several languages in the same enunciative situation thanks to sociolinguistic processes such as
alternation codic, borrowing, codic interference and the layer.
The French-speaking Algerian press, and in particular the journalistic columns, is a fertile ground for the
emergence of plurilingual language practices. Indeed, they are the place par excellence where the
transcodic brands are reflected. However, the use and frequency of the latter depend largely on the
chroniclers, who alone can decide the languages used, construction processes implemented for the
combination of its latest and sociolinguistic values attributed to them. Thus, the present article is devoted
to the analysis of these specificities in three Algerian chroniclers who are Hakim Laalam of the Evening of
Algeria as well as kamel Daoud and El Guellil, of the Quotidien d'Oran.
