Abstract

The language of young people in the French cities has been the subject of several research works, especially in the field of sociolinguistics, revealing the proliferation, richness, and dissemination of this language which has become the symbol of urban culture. In this article, we plan to analyze the differences in speech observed between men and women in the same space, which is that of the suburbs . To do this, we undertake to compare two novels from the so-called genre ‘beur' literature, written by two different authors under the guise of diagenic variation of language in gender studies. We have Rachid Djaïdani’s Boumkoeur (Djaïdani, 1999) and Faïza Guène ‘s Du rêve pour les oufs (Guène, 2006).
