The poetics of China in Contemporary Children’s picturebooks: the example of Moi, Ming

This article examines the poetics of Chinese stereotypes depicted in a contemporary French picture book. By utilizing the concept of dialogism and employing a visual-textual analysis approach, it explores the portrayals of China conveyed by the book and analyzes its ability to deconstruct certain outdated stereotypes while generating new ones. The primary objective of this study is to promote an in- depth reflection on children's literature, which is frequently marginalized within the broader context of contemporary literary discourse.
