Le pouvoir de l’image dans l’album de jeunesse : L’exemple de Max et les Maximonstres de Maurice Sendak
Article The power of images in children's books: The example of Maurice Sendak's Max and the Maximonsters
Keywords:
authority, imagination, children's album, image, philosophical dimensionAbstract
This article looks at the ideological-philosophical roots of the children's book. The hypothesis here is that behind the illustrations characterizing this type of children's story lie ideological and philosophical dimensions. Focusing on Sendak's “Max et Maximonstres”, our work, which draws primarily on the semiotics of the image, attempts to analyze two major concepts: authority, as an ideological notion aimed at regulating the son-mother relationship; and imagination, as a form of liberation for the child's mind.
