Mohamed Magani is the author of 18 books, including 14 novels in French. His novels, underpinned by a constitutive polyphony, short stories and essays have been translated into several languages. In 1995, he was writer-in-residence in Berlin, at the invitation of the International Parliament of Writers and the city of Berlin. He was a member of the Executive Committee of PEN International for six years. The latest novels by this iconoclastic writer reflect a frank concern for and focus on ecology, a theme that is absent or overlooked in contemporary Algerian literature.
