Mostly theoretical, this contribution aims to comprehend the distinct definitions and connotations from
language instruction in general and teaching of foreign languages in particular which have accorded to the notion
of representations and stereotypes. Then, to briefly explain the mechanisms of formation of these elements and
finally, to shed light on the “didactization” of these two notions.
