Bruno Ambroise is a researcher in the philosophy of language at the CNRS, affiliated with the Institute of Legal and Philosophical Sciences of the Sorbonne (ISJPS, UMR 8103: CNRS/University Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne). His work focuses on the history and
epistemology of speech act theory from an interdisciplinary perspective, combining philosophy with the humanities and social sciences (law, anthropology, sociology, linguistics). A specialist in the work of J. L. Austin, he authored What is a Speech Act? (Vrin, 2008), edited thevolume On the Action of Discourse: The Concept of Speech Act through the Lens of Its Histories (ISTE Éditions, 2018), and co-edited Textes clés de philosophie du langage, Vol. 1 : Signification, vérité et réalité.
